I bought my subscription through iTunes or the Apple App Store. How can I get a refund?

Third-party refunds

Due to our agreement with Apple in order to get our app in the iTunes app store, if you subscribed through Apple, all refunds, cancellations, or subscription changes must be handled by Apple. Our support team can't process changes for Apple subscriptions.

How to request a refund from Apple

To request a refund from Apple, follow the steps below. Apple usually responds within a few days and will let you know if your request is approved.

Please keep in mind that it is completely up to Apple whether they choose to give the refund or not, and Chess.com cannot influence the decision.

On a web browser

  1. Go to Apple's problem reports page here, and log in with your Apple ID credentials.

  2. Select the drop-down 'I'd like to…' and choose 'Request a refund' from the options.

  3. Select Chess.com from the list of apps, and click 'I didn't mean to buy this' or 'I didn't intend to renew my subscription(s)' from the drop-down menu.

  4. Follow the prompt to submit the problem.

Through iTunes on Mac or PC

  1. Launch iTunes on either your Mac or Windows PC, and click 'Account.'

  2. Sign in with your Apple ID credentials. and click 'See All' under your purchase history.

  3. Find the Chess.com app, and click 'More.'

    • If you don't see the Chess app, you'll need to choose your date range from the drop-down under 'Purchase History.'

  4. Click 'Report a Problem' below the app name, then 'Choose Problem,' and select your problem from the menu.

  5. Follow the prompt to submit the problem.
